Cave dev head Makoto Asada leaves the company to work on nextgen
Cave Interactive, revered house of bullet-hell shmups with funny names, has lost its head of development today. Makoto Asada announced his departure in a blog post, where he thanked fans for supporting his five-year tenure with the company and revealed he's moving on to next-gen console projects.

Asada's most recent contributions were on Dodonpachi Maximum, a Windows Phone installment in Cave's popular series. Asada also worked on Deathsmiles, EspGaluda 2, Guwange and pretty much every other shmup the company put on Xbox 360.

Call of Duty Ghosts gets rickety skyscraper as preorder bonus

It’s preemptive business as usual with Call of Duty: Ghosts, which now boasts a incentive in the form of a multiplayer map. Dubbed “Free Fall,” the freebie environment is meant to reflect the dynamic events that characterize and alter the environments in this iteration of Call of Duty’s multiplayer suite.

Taking place in the halls of a skyscraper on the verge of collapse, Free Fall represents “just one of the many new approaches we’re putting into Ghosts’ multiplayer across the board,” says Executive Producer Mark Rubin. “There’s so much more that we look forward to sharing in the weeks to come.”

Report: Xbox prez Don Mattrick leaving for Zynga

July 1st, 2013 No comments
Xbox One coming later this year
Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business President Don Mattrick (the head of Xbox) is leaving the company, reports AllThingsD. Citing multiple sources, he'll be heading for a top job at Zynga, with an announcement coming as soon as today.

Mattrick's move to Zynga could be what that company needs - and one that may be a blessing in disguise for Microsoft. Zynga has struggled since its IPO, hemorrhaging talent and shutting down studios.

Meanwhile, at Microsoft, there's a reason we call it the Xbox One-80 now. A fresh face couldn't hurt.

We've reached out to Microsoft for a statement.

Zynga has replied with a "no comment."
