Lollipop Chainsaw ‘Premium’ and ‘Valentine’ editions coming to Japan

Lollipop Chainsaw 'Premium' and 'Valentine' editions coming to Japan on Valentine's Day

We're not sure if y'all are aware of this, but Valentine's Day works way, way differently in Japan than it does here. Boys traditionally don't give Valentines to girls, for instance; women are the primary gift-givers, and generally speaking giving anything other than chocolate is atypical.

There's also two new Lollipop Chainsaw special editions coming out exclusively in Japan this Valentine's Day, but that's less of a cultural difference and more of a marketing thing. The game's new "Premium Edition" will cost ¥3,980 (about $48) and will include codes to unlock costumes and additional character voices.

Meanwhile, the ¥4,980 ($60ish) "Valentine Edition" includes a "Happy Valentine Disc," which contains a PC desktop Juliet clock, wallpapers and various gravure pictures of the game's official cosplay models. It also comes with a "Premium Movie Disc" full of trailers and cinematics, as well as a Lollipop Chainsaw manga and the Premium Edition's unlock codes.

No word yet on a potential North American release of either version, but we have learned that the Japanese phrase "義理チョコ" (giri-choko) means "obligatory gift chocolate," which is probably more entertaining in the long run.

Japan’s Resident Evil 6 premium edition designed for Oswell E. Spencer

April 11th, 2012 No comments
We're used to premium editions costing a bit extra, but Resident Evil 6's bundle for Japan costs a whopping $1,300. This premium edition contains Resident Evil 6, Leon's leather jacket (seriously) and four different phone cases - one designed for Leon, one for Chris, one for newly-revealed Luke and another random case.

It makes sense the bundle would include four phone cases: you're going to need at least three friends to help you buy this $1,300 bundle. We guess you could share Leon's leather jacket, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants style; the jacket comes in sizes S, M, L and XL.

Only 5,000 of these premium edition bundles will be made available for ¥100,000 ($1,300) each. Pre-orders are currently open now, and conclude on June 11.

Disgaea 4 Premium Edition is loaded with toys

April 14th, 2011 No comments
NIS America is going to save you Disgaea superfans a little time, by allowing you to buy Disgaea 4 and a tie-in toy at the same time. The publisher announced a Premium Edition, which will be available at "GameStop and other retailers" at the September launch, and contains an artbook and an exclusive Nendoroid figurine of Fuka (above, snapped for the Japanese Disgaea blog).

If you really want a big box of Disgaea stuff, though, you'll want to pre-order from NIS's own store. It'll begin taking pre-orders in July for two different bundles: the same Premium Edition sold elsewhere (with the addition of a bonus soundtrack), and a Super Premium Edition that comes with nine more exclusive toys.

Oh, also, all of these packages include the actual game.

New Dreamcast Game Gets A Deluxe Version [Premium Edition]

October 12th, 2009 No comments

Just when we were sure Dreamcast games managed to dodge the trend of more expensive premium versions, redspotgames announces the Deluxe edition of it upcoming Dreamcast title, Rush Rush Rally Racing.

Announced on the Dreamcast's 10th anniversary, Rush Rush Rally Racing is a top-down racer that, in all fairness, looks rather primitive. Primitive as it is, it is still a new game you can purchase that will play in your Dreamcast, and now you can spend a little more to get a little more. You'll have to wait a little longer for the Deluxe edition, due out in November while the regular version drops this month, but you get a soundtrack CD, full color manual, deleted scenes, and stickers for your trouble. Stickers!

Folks who have already ordered the game from http://www.redspotgames.com/shop are able to change their order to the Deluxe edition via internet magic. The premium package will run you 27,95 EUR / US$ 42.00 / 27,00 GBP.
