When you see the stuff Japan's
Club Nintendo offers its members, you may be prone to drool a bit. Ironically, Nintendo of Japan's loyalty program has something for that now as well.
For 150 points, Club Nintendo is offering the choice of one of these three 25cm x 25cm "towel handkerchiefs." They're part towel and part handkerchief, but at the same time
neither, because none of us would dare dry or clean anything with one of these. Since they're currently only available in Japan, of course, we don't even have the opportunity to
decline to mop up a spilled soda with one of these cute collectibles.

Brothers Claudio and Luis may not dress like you've always known the Marios to dress, they may operate in the Eggplant rather than Mushroom Kingdom, and they may battle a giant, evil platypus named Bruiser, but make no mistake:
Super Claudio Bros. is a musical about the life and times of Mario. But the real shock to me, reviewers and attendees alike? It's
really good, even if you didn't grow up with a controller in your hand.

Nintendo's
Wii Games competition has officially begun.
All this weekend, NY/NJ residents can visit Liberty State Park to partake in the tournament, and get
free swag -- including
custom-designed t-shirts. To celebrate the launch of the nationwide event, Nintendo threw a parade, and started the games by sponsoring a heated match between the Mario brothers ... in a game of
Wii Fit Plus Hula-Hoop.
While the games showcased at the event were mostly comprised of Nintendo's fitness titles, there were a few hidden surprises, including the NES
Super Mario Bros. 3 and WiiWare's
World of Goo. With free games (and free AC!), the competition is certainly worth checking out, especially if it manages to make its way to
your area.

Koopa Troopas can fly in-game, but some Red Bull Flugtag competitors in Miami decided to try and get one off the ground in real life last weekend. Team Shell Shocked from St. Augustine, FL, constructed a massive Mario tribute to enter in the contest, and their vision was truly something to behold.
"I need some 'when-I-was-in-college' stories," team member Rob Schanz told The St. Augustine Record. With any luck, he'll still have some stories tell, even though his team didn't place, according to the results posted on RedBullFlugtagUSA.com.
The level of DIY ingenuity injected into this feat, which you can witness on video over at Loaded Pants, should be a challenge to DIY vehicle-makers everywhere.
It's just a shame they couldn't have gotten some more distance in their launch attempt. It would have made for an even better college story to pass down to the grandkids. Nonetheless, the team apparently did appreciate the time they spent together.
"Flight occured could have been a little further but it was an amazing experience!" they wrote on their Twitter account after their turn was over.
What do you think of Team Shell Shocked's Koopa Troopa? Have you competed in a flugtag event yourself? Share your responses in the comment section below.

It's our sincere hope that if the Super Mario Bros. ever actually did show up in our world, they wouldn't look
anything like Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo -- instead, we'd really prefer they look something like what you see above: Two papercraft statues
put together by DeviantArt-ist TouchFuzzyGetDizzy. Definitely click the Source link below to see these guys as big as possible. The actual statues are 40 and 50 centimeters tall, and with the detail on them, you're probably looking at quite a bit of paper.
If you want to try cutting, folding, and pasting them together yourself, you're welcome to -- the creator has uploaded patterns of each, though he warns that there are no instructions to go along with them yet. Elsewhere in his gallery, you can see
more angles of Luigi, as well as models of
Aryll and
Salvatore from
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. Very cool. The best thing we ever made with paper?
The football from ... er ...
Tecmo Bowl.

For the
third year in a row, a small group of brave, platforming-adept gamers have holed themselves up in a room, where they'll play a vast cornucopia of
Mario titles until their viewers
allow them to stop. That sounds more sadistic than it actually is -- the
Mario Marathon is actually a charity drive, where the players take on more difficult in-game tasks as donations for
Child's Play continue to pile in.
They're currently standing at a little over $20,000, but they'll need a lot more
fungible encouragement if they're going to be made to tackle some of their loftier goals. Why not
drop by and show your support?

We're approaching charity gaming marathon season, in which kind-hearted folks spend their hard-earned vacation days playing a series of video games without respite or pause. The
Mario Marathon guys are set to kick off their franchise playthrough in a little under two weeks -- before that, though, the prolific, altruistic team at
TheSpeedGamers is attempting a similar feat: They're currently playing through every single
Mario game while collecting donations for ACT Today, a group which helps families pay for the care and treatment of their autistic children.
Maybe we weren't explicit enough in the preceding paragraph: They are playing
every Mario game. Every one of them. At the time of this writing, they're playing
Mario Kart 64. Monday morning, they're going to play
Hotel Mario. When given the choice between going big or going home, the folks at TheSpeedGamers clearly chose the former.

Dell has marked down
Super Mario Galaxy 2 to $35. For a high-profile game just released weeks ago, that's a pittance --
less than a pittance. If you gave Dell a pittance, you'd get a trifle back as change.
It's a good deal, is what we're saying, for a game that is "
the best Mario game ever."
In fact, at this point, the only valid excuse for not trying out
Galaxy 2 is, well, motion sickness. If you're prone to that particular ailment, the game's less magical and more
the worst experience of your life.
