After being leaked earlier this evening, Star Wars 1313 has been officially revealed by Lucasarts. A teaser image for the game reveals what looks like an original trilogy-era shuttle, which may mean the game could take place - at least in part - during the era of everyone's favorite series characters.
A press release for Star Wars 1313 says the game is a third-person cinematic action game, set in "Level 1313, a ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet of Coruscant," and the player will control "a deadly bounty hunter as he uses an arsenal of exotic weaponry to hunt down his marks and uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy." LucasArts says the game will emphasize Star Wars' "dark and mature" elements, and show off "a part of the Star Wars mythos that we've always known existed, but never had a chance to visit."
In other words, it sounds a lot like the Force Unleashed games, but from the perspective of a bounty hunter instead of a Jedi. We'll hear more at E3 next week, no doubt.
In addition to developing a 3DS game, Mercury Steam is also hard at work on a new console game: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. Announced this evening during Konami's pre-E3 press briefing, Konami had little to offer outside of the brief CG teaser for the Mercury Steam-developed sequel for Xbox 360 and PS3 seen here.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will be at E3 and you can bet we're going to get our hands on it. Stay tuned for more next week, when Joystiq lands in LA for the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo.

Contrary to what Ron Perlman might tell you, war changes a lot. What is fought today with guns and drones was once fought with pointy sticks and horses. War of the Roses hopes to remind us of this fact, bringing home the ancient, raw brutality of hoof, blade, bow ... and electric guitar.

Here's a fantastically charming trailer for Quantum Conundrum, the multi-dimensional puzzle game coming to PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this month. Cheerful music, bright colors and a furry little creature will go a long way towards making me like a game and this trailer has all three in abundance.
This must be a hell of a game to try and promote, honestly. I mean, have you read Dale's preview of it? I don't know how anyone could convey the kind of complexity that the puzzles he describes consist of in a digestible video without ruining the fun of discovery. So, screw it. Give me cheerful music, bright colors, a furry little creature and maybe a little bit of hands-on time next week. That'll do me until the game releases on June 21st.

Two Tribes received a request for EDGE swag (Two Tribes made the PC/Mac version of the iOS game) from the father of a six-year-old superfan about to turn seven. Instead of simply handing over some material, however, the developer invited Zias to come in and build a level in Lego, which would then be put into the game.
Zias then came in, built a level out of blocks, and spent the day working with Two Tribes' level editor to implement it into the game. "It's not the way we normally design levels," said designer Hessel Bonenkamp, "and it might not be the best experience for the average player but to me it is fascinating. It also reminded me of my past self fiddling with levels for Wrecking Crew or filling pages and pages of grid paper with my own overworld for the original Legend of Zelda on the NES."
The level is available for the Steam version of EDGE today. Try it out, but be warned: if you don't say you love it, you're a monster.
