October 31st, 2009 No comments

If you thought the helicopter was annoying in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, then prepare to be very, very upset. Cheeky players who are able to rack up an impressive run of twenty-five consecutive kills in Modern Warfare 2 gets access to something truly awe-inspiring.

In fact, this weapon is so amazing that not even your own team-mates, or yourself for that matter, will be able to stand against it. Needless to say, all those nightmares you had as a child over the Terminator 2 dream sequence are about to be forced into the forefront of your mind once more. Check out the video, and prepare to dread every multiplayer round of Modern Warfare 2 that you find yourself in.

Rocksteady: 'excited' about future Batman possibilities

Rocksteady: 'excited' about future Batman possibilities screenshot

Rocksteady Studios doesn’t seem opposed to the idea of crafting a follow-up to Batman: Arkham Asylum. Go figure, right?

Speaking to Official PlayStation Magazine, studio co-owner and co-founder Sefton Hill expanded the company response to the question we’ve been asking since finishing the latest Batman videogame: will there be a sequel?

“I’m not really allowed to comment on that,” he said in the latest issue of the magazine (spotted by Goonline), “but there are definitely lots of exciting stories to tell in Batman’s world, and I can say that we’re really privileged to work on it, and excited about future possibilities.”

Last month, Batman: AA lead narrative designer Paul Crocker barely addressed this same question in an interview, stating the studio just wanted to see if people who purchased the critically-lauded title enjoyed it.

For the record, we’re all for another Batman game. If a sequel does happen, though, we’d like to see Crazy Quilt enter the fold. Nothing says "foe" better than a guy who can only see in psychedelic colors.

Weekly Webcomic Wrapup is filled with the spirit of All Hallows’ Eve

October 31st, 2009 No comments
We tend to treat Halloween like any other holiday when it comes to post content -- it's basically an excuse for us to bombard you with topical links to our favorite holiday-themed corners of the internet. Like this one! And this one. And this one! Let's not forget this one. And ... well, no, that's one's just inappropriate. Y'know what? We're going to leave it at four. That's a pleasantly round number.

You know what else is a good number? Seven. Hey, that's how many webcomics we've got lined up for your perusal below! Check them out, vote for your favorite in the poll after the jump, then tell us what strips we may have missed out on in the comments section. Happy Halloween!

Zombie Attack (Brawl in the Family)
Move Over Teen Wolf (Virtual Shackles)
Cabela's Tetris (Of Noobs and Men)
The Big Long Persona 4 Comic Part Two (Hiimdaisy's Livejournal)

Shepard should take a break, lay off the brains

Shepard should take a break, lay off the brains screenshot

Chances are the majority of you, the Destructoid readers, are fast asleep or drunk and dressed like a vampire right now. It’s OK, we understand -- the Halloween season is happening right now. But if you find yourself not in the mood, check out the above Mass Effect 2 image because it might just tickle you in the right ways.

This festive image jogged my memory. Before E3 happened, an issue of Official Xbox Magazine teased advanced ME2 information. The cover, of course, had a shot of a pale and tired Commander Shepard. I immediately thought zombie, but didn’t mention it in our post.

Then, at E3, I saw essentially the same image in the West Hall. It was bigger and had better quality. The same thought occurred to me again. I remember asking Anthony to snap a few more photos of the entrance-side stuff for me to go along with the shot Nick took of the outside banner advertisement. The plan was to just to show all of you how terrible Shepard was looking. And, well, that went to hell after I saw the demo behind-closed-doors.

But, anyway, this is a much more brutal shot of what I was thinking at the time, and a good one to boot considering the holiday. If only those banners had the wicked gaping wounds -- I bet that would have gotten a massive rise out of people at the event.

AO-rated Manhunt 2 coming to PC next week

October 31st, 2009 No comments

AO-rated Manhunt 2 coming to PC next week screenshot

Remember Manhunt 2? Of course you do, but not because it was a good game (because it definitely wasn't), or because it did anything revolutionary. Nope, we all remember Manhunt 2 because of the controversy that swirled around the game thanks to its uber-violent tendencies. The game was crap, the controversy was overblown and it pretty much faded into obscurity never to be... heard... of... oh, here it is again

The faux-controversy-ridden game is getting a PC release next week (Nov. 6) via Direct2Drive, and for some reason it has an AO rating, as was reported before. That's what it was originally rated, if you all recall. It was then edited down so that it could show up on store shelves for a retail release. However, digital download doesn't have any morally conscious retailers, so AO it is. There's no word on what the new or changed content will be, but we're guessing they'll just show all the kills like they originally intended to instead of the censored way it ended up. Once it is out, we'll bring you all the dirty details some time this week.

Watch Grandma Hardcore Cuss Up a Storm in Brütal Legend [Nsfw]

October 31st, 2009 No comments

We've featured her on Kotaku before, but years ago. So to reintroduce her, Old Grandma Hardcore lives in Cleveland (there's just no way she could live anywhere else) and she loves playing games.

She's also got the potty-mouth of a 19-year-old, but the F-bombs she drops are terms of endearment, explains her grandson:over at OGH. "I'd say never so much before has a game made Grandma squeal with joy whilst simultaneously pissing her off, but you know that's not true. That describes pretty much every goddamn game she likes. She absolutely adored it."
